International Partnerships and Projects
Through staff expertise, professional affiliations, networks, and conference facilities, we are able to work with other organizations on large- scale endeavors that benefit the world’s biodiversity.
In promoting species based conservation programs, White Oak often provides direct support and takes a principal role in managing the conservation initiative such as the Okapi Conservation Project, Gerenuk Research Project, and the Conservation Action Trust. In other cases, we provide support to partner organizations such as the Cheetah Conservation Fund, International Rhino Foundation, and the Northern Rangelands Trust, who then implement and manage the selected conservation programs. In all scenarios, funded projects and programs must support our mission and demonstrate links to the animal programs at White Oak Conservation Center.
One critical partnership Conservation Centers for Species Survival formally links White Oak Conservation Center, the Wilds (Ohio), Smithsonian’s Conservation Research Center (Virginia), San Diego Wild Animal Park (California) and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center (Texas) as collaborative institutions working together to save species. These five large facilities dedicate significant management and scientific expertise and spacious animal facilities with large numbers of animals, working together to contribute to species survival and recovery programs.
